Improving Voice Acting Ability

Passionate sports announcer Max Edelsack held such roles as sales associate at Williams Nursery and summer merchandise manager for a rock band while he was studying sports communication at Marist College. Since graduating, Max Edelsack has enjoyed working as a comedian and voice actor on Vine and YouTube.

Individuals who want to become a voice actor must first develop their voice over talent. The following are a few things that can help people improve their voice acting ability:

- Read out loud: Reading out loud every day gives aspiring voice actors the chance to improve their intonation and enunciation, both of which are essential for good voice acting. Ideally, individuals should read aloud at least 30 minutes a day and start with simple material before moving on to more complex words and phrases.

- Stay consistent: Individuals who can deliver material with a consistent volume, energy, and pace are often sought out within the voice acting field. This ability to stay consistent is particularly important for voice actors who have multiple lines and it ensures individuals can deliver what a director wants every time.

- Be connected: This refers to a couple of things. First, being connected means a voice actor is connected to their performance and they sound genuinely interested in the material they are delivering. Second, it means individuals are connected to their script and are capable of scanning ahead to prevent themselves from stumbling.
